Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the largest opposition political society in Bahrain, hailed what it described as "large-scale mass popular participation and peaceful and civilized movement" on the seventh anniversary of the February 14 uprising.

Al-Wefaq said in a statement on Thursday (February 15, 2018) that 132 demonstrations, protests and events were held in various governorates and regions across Bahrain yesterday. Some areas even witnessed more than one demonstration. The protests continued from the early hours of the morning until the evening with the widespread participation by both men and women.

Al-Wefaq praised "this strong patriotic spirit and determination," describing the movement on the seventh anniversary as "stronger than the past two years, which reflects Bahrain's vitality, strength and determination to continue until the demands are met."

Al-Wefaq expressed its thanks and appreciation to every man, woman and youth, who took to the streets peacefully, despite the regime's repression, tyranny and abuse, to express their opinion stressing on the need for a democratic shift, building of a state of law and justice, and achievement of the legitimate and just demands of the people of Bahrain.

Al-Wefaq further stressed that "this determination and wide participation reflect the magnitude and escalation of the crisis as well as the violations and injustice, starting with the shed blood of the martyrs, as last year witnessed the rise of a large number of heroic martyrs, either by executions or killings in the streets or under torture and ill-treatment in prisons; in addition to the continued siege and house arrest of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, the father and backbone of the people, the ongoing brutal and systematic torture practiced against activists and youths who are arrested on a daily basis, the prosecution of the opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman, and the continued oppression, sectarian discrimination and repression of freedom of opinion and expression, and the fact that the people's demands remain unanswered, which is the main driver of the movement which will continue as long as the demands are not met."

Al-Wefaq also said that the peaceful popular movement with the participation of the majority of the Bahraini people will carry on nonstop until the legitimate demands are met.
