Shura Services Committee Discusses Allowing Private Sector Employees to Purchase 5 Years of Notional Service

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Shura Council's Services Committee discussed during its meeting chaired by Jihad Abdullah Al-Fadhel, Chairman of the Committee, a bill to add a 36th Article to the Social Insurance Law promulgated by Legislative Decree No. (24) of 1976, (prepared in light of the proposed law as amended by the House of Representatives), which was attended by representatives of the General Authority for Social Insurance.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the objectives of the bill, which includes granting insureds in the private sector the advantage of purchasing notional service years not exceeding five years as well as the implications of its application on the ground. The Committee also listened to the views of General Authority for Social Insurance on the bill and the responses of the Authority's representatives to the questions raised by the members of the Committee before deciding to prepare its draft report on the bill for discussion at the next meeting.
