Electricity Subsidies Dropped 62 Million BD after Amending Tariff

Bahrain Mirror: Numbers published by Electricity and Water Authority showed that government subsidies on electricity dropped 62 million BD after approving the new tariff for electricity last year.
The authority said that it annually pays more than 393 million BD to buy electricity energy from private production plants, indicating that the government subsidies to the authority decreased from 350 million BD to 188 million.
It is to mention that Bahrain took a decision to increase electricity and water tariffs and lift subsidies on shops. It also reduced fuel subsidies under new policies to face the fiscal deficit after oil prices drop and failure of the government's plans to diversify its revenues.
