Bahrain Mirror: The Fourth High Criminal Court issued 8-year jail term against a defendant accused of putting fake bomb and blasting gas cylinder in Jid Ali.
The court sentenced the suspect to 3 years in jail over putting fake bomb in Ali and 5 years in jail over blasting a gas cylinder and ordered the confiscation of seized items.
The authorities claim that the suspects blasted a gas cylinder and that on the following day, October 6, 2017, he put a fake bomb in Jid Ali.
Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses
