Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini High Court of Appeals has decided to adjourn the case of two defendants accused of receiving training on the manufacture of weapons and explosives in Iranian Revolutionary Guard camps until May 6; in order to bring the second defendant from his place of imprisonment and hear the pleading.
The first instance court had sentenced, in the case involving five defendants, the first two defendants (25 and 24 years old) to 7 years in prison, also stripping them of their citizenships, while acquitting the third, fourth and fifth defendants in the case known as "the Imam army".
The authorities claim that the defendants from the Sitra area left Bahrain in 2015 for Iran and were trained over two stages by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Human rights groups challenge the charges attributed to defendants due to doubts regarding the independence of the Bahraini judiciary, whose members are appointed by royal decrees, and since courts issue rulings based on confessions extracted under torture, evidence from secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
