Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court started yesterday looking into the case of 2 Bahraini brothers, one of whom in Iran, accused of joining "Saraya Al-Ashtar" and attempting to murder a policeman. The court adjourned the case until May 8 for pleading.

The Public Prosecution accused the first suspect of joining a "terrorist group" to disable the Constitution and prevent State institutions from carrying out their tasks. It also accused him of recruiting the second suspect, giving him needed money to buy arms and ammunition and using them to spread chaos and sedition to topple the regime.

The prosecution accused the second suspect of attempting to murder a policeman, acquiring, along with others, Kalashnikov, aiming at carrying out terrorist acts, as well as acquiring unlicensed arms. It also accused him of receiving funds from terrorist group aiming at executing terrorist operations inside the kingdom.

Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
