Bahrain Mirror: The Fourth High Criminal Court issued on Thursday (April 19, 2018) life sentence against 3 suspects and revoked the citizenships of two of them, over blast case in Al-Budai Street, said Terror Crime Prosecution Chief, Attorney General Ahmed Al-Hammadi.
The authorities claim that they were notified about a strange-looking object placed at Al-Qadam traffic light and an explosion which happened on Budaiya Highway, near the area of Abu Saiba.
The authorities succeeded in arresting two of the suspects. Meanwhile, the third remained fugitive. In its convictions, the court relied on the suspects' confessions during investigations.
Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
