Bahrain Mirror: The King of Bahrain sent a letter to the Military Commander-in-Chief, Marshal Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, in which he said that the latter's approach to forgiveness and tolerance led to his decision to commute the death penalty.

One day after the Military Court of Cassation approved the death sentences against six detainees, including Sayed Alawi Hussain, Fadel Radhi, Mohammad Al-Matghawi and soldier Mubarak Muhanna, their families were summoned to the Military Court to inform them of the King's decision not to ratify the sentences and commute them to life imprisonment.

The letter on which Bahrain news Agency reported comprised high praise of the Marshal. The king also expressed his deep appreciation of his "humane and tolerant stance," adding that he did so because he is "a courageous man who does not hesitate to pardon when he able to."
