Research Institute: Bahrain’s Construction Market Proliferates Rapidly Although It Tumbled in 2017

Bahrain Mirror: An international research institute has issued a report on the construction market in Bahrain and its opportunities to 2022. According to estimations, output from the Bahraini construction industry proliferated at an annual average of 4.8% over the review historical period of 2013-2017.
The output of infrastructure construction market will register a CAGR of 18.68% through 2020, according to projections by market analysts. Key subsectors for construction activities comprise industrial, commercial, infrastructure, institutional and residential, and energy and utilities.
Though the output growth tumbled in 2017, there was speedy revival driven by sizeable private investments in infrastructure projects and residential projects. In addition, substantial spending by Bahrain government on boosting transport and residential infrastructure has aided in the swift and significant expansion of the market. For instance, it has earmarked BD 414.1 million (US$1.1 billion) for modernizing the nation's airport infrastructure by the end of 2020.
Furthermore, efforts to build more gas turbines and steam turbines bode well for the market. Of note, the Bahraini government has committed BD 564.0 million (US$1.5 billion) on gas-fired power plants by the end of 2020.
