Bahrain Mirror: On the anniversary of Bahrain's independence, August 14, the Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society issued a statement, in which it stressed that Bahrain is experiencing the worst stage in its history due to the absence of state institutions and law, the collapse of coexistence between the government and a large segment of the society, the absence of national consensus and the breakdown of the social contract.
Al-Wefaq said that the anniversary of independence brings to the conscience of all Bahrainis the urgent need to build an inclusive homeland based on equal citizenship in rights and duties, the adoption of good governance in the management of state affairs and the democratization of the political process.
It affirmed that all the regressions, crises and constitutional, political, existential, economic, social, human rights, and security problems that Bahrain is experiencing are as a result of the use of force, dominance and exclusivity that has not and will not create a homeland. Al-Wefaq added that all of these crises will continue to expand and intensify if the principles of equal citizenship, democracy, justice and national responsibility were not adopted.
