Bahrain Mirror: In her first participation in the council's works since assuming the post after the Jordanian Prince, Zeid bin Ra'ad Al-Hussein, the new United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet criticized Bahrain's human rights record.

Michelle expressed concerns regarding human rights situations in several states and specified a paragraph in her speech about situations in Bahrain. She said "A large number of cases of revocation of citizenship has been reported to the Office. The legislation underpinning such actions should be reviewed in line with Bahrain's obligations under international laws."

As for the Parliamentary and municipality elections, she stated "Reports of possible exclusion of Bahraini citizens from the forthcoming elections of the National Assembly are disturbing."

Michelle Bachelet demanded the release of prisoners saying "All human rights defenders who are currently arbitrarily detained should be released including Nabeel Rajab."
