Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): A number of Twitter users reacted to the slogan and hashtag launched by the Bahraini Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission (LLOC) #Call_of_Duty for the upcoming elections to be held on November 24, 2018. Some criticized it, while others mocked it. However, the majority found that it went beyond the right they have.

Tweeter Abdulhakeem Al-Subhi wondered in a tweet: "What is the duty we are doing? Participation is a constitutional right and boycotting elections is a choice based upon what has taken place previously, meaning that what has contributed to you taking this optional boycotting decision is what has previously taken place. This what the citizen who was not content about the performance of #Parliament says. So the parliament should perform its duty as well."

As for Anas Al-Shaikh, he wondered: "What duty? So it is no longer important for the Parliament to enjoy its full powers, and the most important thing is that the voter goes on the voting day in order to give his fingerprint and vote! Although knowing that the candidates will be completely incapable of making any independent decision that serves the interest of the people, his only task will be to stand with the government in any decision it takes against the interests of the people and their rights."

He then posted a video showing a session held by the British Parliament, and commented: "When will we have a Parliament with this level of freedoms where the opposition in the Council has the right to question and criticize the prime minister directly instead of drumming, honking, applauding and cheering... They say #Call_of_Duty. What duty?!"

Tweeter Abu Husain recalled the 2014 elections slogan and said "#With_Your_Vote_You_Can had hope as if it said that you can make change. When citizens realized that it was nonsense and that they can change nothing, and when people started complaining about their livelihood conditions, the slogan was changed to you are obliged to come and answer the #Call_of_Duty...or else, you are a traitor and you are failing at your duty." So, this citizen sees in this year's slogan a clear act of intimidation on part of the government.

"#Call_of_Duty, why is it a duty? What duty? Legitimate duty? National? Duty of slavery? The boycotter is a traitor who fails to do his duty? This is intimidation. It is a failed slogan," Abu Husain adds in another tweet.

Meanwhile, Tweeter Murad sarcastically wrote: "I think that the 2022 elections slogan will be #Don't_Disapoint_Us and #We_Swear_by _Your_Mother_Vote will be used in the following election."

Another tweeter mocking the slogan said: "#Call_of_Duty, I didn't do my homework (duty) at school yet still I got grades. Do you want me to perform a duty without receiving anything in return?"

"After the failure of #With_Your_Vote_You_Can, the new slogan #Call_of_Duty comes, isn't voting a personal right? When did it become a duty?", another one commented.

For his part, tweeter Dr. Sameer Khalfan said jokingly: "We answer the #Call_of_Duty by contributing to appointing people who don't represent us."
