Bahrain Mirror: The Assistant Secretary for International Relations of the General Federation of Workers Trade Unions in Bahrain, Karim Radhi, revealed the ongoing dismissal of employees from Bahrain Aluminum, Alba.
He explained that the dismissal of employees comes «as a result of their detention for several days for interrogation even without any conviction». A number of Alba employees have been temporarily detained and later released, but the company has been firing them.
"What is happening in this national company is shocking and horrific," said Karim Radhi on Twitter.
Describing these measures, he said that they are "considered an explicit violation of the labor law amid the silence of the Ministry of Labor".
"Does Bahrain, who has become a member of the Governing Body of the International Labor Organization, which is a source of pride for all of us, know that this membership requires action, which includes stopping what is being carried out by Alba, i.e the dismissal of any employee who is being detained and interrogated for a few days from work even if no conviction or trial was made," he asked.
