Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain started expanding Bapco's refinery, a project that will boost the capacity of the oil refinery to 360,000 barrels per day from the current 267,000 barrels.
The project is one of the important development projects in the field of oil and gas currently underway. It includes the construction of a new crushing unit, in addition to increasing the capacity of the moderate hydrogen crushing unit to 70,000 barrels per day, from about 54,000 barrels per day. The project is expected to finish in 2021.
The new pipeline will replace the old pipeline with 230 thousand barrels per day, enabling Bapco to increase the refinery's processing capacity to 350,000 barrels per day, after it was 267 thousand barrels per day.
Bahrain signed a $4.2 billion contract with TechnipFMC, through which a consortium of firms (comprising Korean Samsung Engineering and Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas) complete this project by 2022.
