NAO Report: Sewage Stations Exceed Capacity by 186%, Polluting Sea

Bahrain Mirror: The report of the Financial and Administrative National Audit Office for 2017 and 2018 states that the amount of water received by the sewage stations in the Kingdom exceeds its absorptive capacity by up to 186%, which leads to the production of water that does not meet the environmental specifications, hence, pollution of the sea.
According to the report, the Ministry of Works and Municipalities does not benefit from 48% of treated water for purposes such as forestry, agriculture and groundwater injection. Between 2014 and 2017, the Ministry discharged 137 million cubic meters out of 284 million cubic meters of water in the sea.
