Auction Held for Consultancy Firm in Charge of 1st Stage of Bahrain Metro Network

Bahrain Mirror: The Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, announced a reverse auction for the appointment of a consulting firm to construct the first stage of the Bahrain metro network, following the conclusion of the feasibility study.
The project is within the framework of the development of logistics projects and will be implemented in several stages. The first stage recommended by the study is the construction of two lines of the metro network with a total length of 29 km of suspended bridges including 20 stop stations serving most residential and commercial areas.
The capacity of the metro is expected to be more than 40,000 passengers per hour. The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications aims through this project to provide alternative, modern and environmentally friendly transportation systems that are similar to those of developed countries. The new project is also expected to provide at least 2,000 job opportunities.
