Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini court has commuted the prison terms of five defendants accused of assembling in the Dar Kulaib area, sentencing three of them to three years and two others to two years, also ordering the confiscation of seized items.
The first instance court had sentenced three defendants to five years in prison and two others to three years' imprisonment.
One of the defendants went to a police station to report the theft of his car, but the authorities arrested him on the grounds that his vehicle had been reported, claiming that it was previously used in protests in the area of Dar Kulaib.
The first defendant had confessed about the remaining defendants during Interior Ministry interrogations. However, the authorities force detainees to make confessions under duress and torture, according to human rights organizations.
