Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Criminal Court upheld 3 and 10-year jail term against 5 suspects accused, along with a sixth suspect, of blasting a gas cylinder in front of National Bank of Bahrain in Sitra in January 2017. All the suspects, expect the fifth, appealed the verdict.
The authorities claim that the suspects previously planned to detonate a gas cylinder near gate of National Bank of Bahrain on 17/01/2017 and headed to the place. They put the gas cylinder inside a tire, poured gasoline on it and set it to fire, which led to detonating the gas cylinder, causing damages to the bank's façade, aiming to intimidate people and destabilize the kingdom's security.
The Fourth High Criminal Court sentenced on Thursday (November 15, 2018) the third, fourth and fifth suspects to 10 years in jail and 500 BD fine. It also issued 3-year jail term against the first, second and sixth suspects and 500 BD fine and bound all the suspects to pay together 11 thousand BD for the damages caused and ordered the confiscation of seized items.
