Bahrain Mirror: The head of emergency and accident department at the Salmaniya Medical Complex, Raed Al-Marzouq, denied the existence of a crisis, after dozens of medical staff joined the voluntary retirement program.

Al-Marzouq said in a press statement that the emergency department receives multiple times more patients than its actual capacity despite the presence of health centers distributed across all the Kingdom's governorates, stressing that this is proof of the quality of service provided by the department.

Al-Marzouq stressed that information saying there is a crisis in the emergency department is incorrect. "There is no crisis in the emergency department, and the concern is premature and very exaggerated," he added. He explained that they are constantly studying the department's needs and that there are concentrated efforts to solve any difficulties, mainly the crisis of the shortage of patient beds. He also said that there are some solutions that have been put in place, in addition to hiring more doctors when needed, stressing that the number of doctors working in the emergency department is enough, and the number of physicians will be increased as needed.
