Alternative Punishments Law to Be applied on 451 Inmates: Interior Minister

Bahrain Mirror: MP Ghazi Al Rahma said that the Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa told them in a meeting held on Sunday (April 28, 2019) that a total of 451 individuals – 388 men, 52 women and 11 minors – are to benefit from alternative punishments law.
Al-Rahma said in a statement to the Al-Ayam newspaper that interior minister confirmed during the meeting that the 451 inmates will be among the first stage which will be followed by other stages.
Sources denied any releases of prisoners of conscience, Manama Voice website reported.
The sources said that the alternative punishments will be applied on convicts sentenced from 2 to 10 years in jail according to specific conditions.
