5-Year Jail Term and Penalty for Anyone who Sympathizes, Promotes or Encourages Terrorist Acts

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain incriminated yesterday all forms of showing sympathy, in any way, with terrorist acts that take place inside or outside Bahrain. It also incriminated all forms of possessing, personally or through another person, a document or record that shows sympathy or justifies the terrorist acts whether inside or outside Bahrain.
King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa ratified yesterday (May 22, 2019) and issued Law 8/2019 amending Article 11 of Law 58/2006 regarding the protection of the community against terrorist acts.
Under the amendment, a prison sentence not exceeding five years and a fine of no less than BD 2,000 and no more than BD 5,000 will be the penalty for each one who promotes, extols, glorifies, justifies, admires or encourages acts of terrorist punishable by law inside the Kingdom or abroad.
A penalty of imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years will be inflicted upon everyone who holds or possesses, personally or through another person, a document or record containing the aforesaid promotion where it is intended to be distributed or shared.
The same penalty will be inflicted ion everyone who holds or possesses, personally or through another person, any means of printing, recording or publicizing regardless of the type thereof whether used or intended for use even on a temporary basis for printing, recording or broadcasting such promotion.
