Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini regime prevented head of the (dissolved) Ulama Islamic Council, Sayed Majeed Al-Mashaal, from leading worshipers in the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz through making him sign a written pledge presented by the interior ministry as he was summoned for investigation in Hamad Town police station, roundabout 17.

The security authorities forced Sayed Al-Mashaal to pledge not to lead worshipers or deliver religious sermons after leading worshiper in Diraz.

The security authorities claim that there is a ban on him from the Jaffaria Endowments, assigned by the king, as well as another ban from the interior ministry.

Bahrain witnesses official targeting and restriction on the Shiite sect and its scholars. This targeting intensified after the authorities revoked the citizenship of highest religious authority Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim in 2016. The restrictions and targeting diversified between citizenship revocation, deportation and threats to shut down Shiite institutions.

The Bahraini regime has been preventing the largest prayers for Shiites in Bahrain held in Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz since mid-2016.
