Jalila Al-Salman Receives "Mary Hatwood" Int'l Award

Bahrain Mirror: Deputy president of (dissolved) Bahrain Teachers Association Jalila Al-Salman received Mary Hatwood Futrell award during a ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (July 25, 2019), on sideline of Education International world congress.
The Education International gives the annual award to human rights defenders.
EI said that Al-Salman honoring comes for her prominent and courageous participation in promoting "education for all".
The organization praised the role played by Al-Salman in defending women's rights and her effective contribution in the UN Commission on the Status of Women and other meetings to advance the goal of equality for women and girls.
It also hailed her efforts in fields of defending teachers' right in forming trade unions, leading a vigorous campaign to demand the release of BTA President, Mahdi Abu Dheeb, although she was arrested and assaulted in 2011.
