Drug Trial of Cop Commences

Bahrain Mirror: The High Criminal Court adjourned a case involving a policeman who is accused of selling drugs to two women- a Bahraini, 22, and a Gulf national, 19, to August 20, with the policeman's continued detention.
According to the investigations of the Anti-Narcotics Department, the defendant, a first lieutenant, was arrested at his residence in Hidd, after the department was tipped off about his possession of drugs with the intention of selling.
The defendant was arrested on May 14, 2019 after a police force raided the house and found the two women inside his room at his residence. A piece of hashish (0.23g), Shabu (2.77g) and 8 pills of Lyrica medicine were found in the man's possession, in addition to rolling papers and pipes. An amount of BD129, which is believed to be earnings from selling drugs, was found.
The defendant told the interrogators that he buys drugs through a person in Pakistan, claiming that he would transfer amounts of money to the alleged dealer, who would lead him to the location where the drugs are hidden. As for the women, they told the officers that the defendant forced them to consume drugs.
The public prosecution accused the lieutenant of selling drugs, while both women were accused of consuming drugs.
