Final Account 2018: 43% of State Budget Goes to Employees' Salaries

Bahrain Mirror: The final account of the state for 2018, which was recently referred by the government to the House of Representatives, shows a decrease in government employees training expenses by 16% compared to the previous year. 

Employees training expenses in Bahrain fell to 6.8 million dinars from 9.1 million dinars in 2017.

Besides, employees training expenses outside Bahrain have fallen from BD 26.7 million in 2017 to BD 23.6 million in 2018, and are expected to decrease more the following year. The wages of trainees abroad amounted to 4.6 million dinars.

The actual disbursement rate of manpower expenditure for 2018 fiscal year amounted to approximately 99.2% of the approved budget, an increase of 1.7% from the actual level for fiscal year 2017. These expenses accounted for 43.3% of total recurring expenses for fiscal year 2018, while the labour force accounted for 39.4% of total public expenditure and 10% of GDP.

The share of Bahraini employees from the public expenditures last year was BD 1,036,886.063 billion, compared to only BD187 million for non-Bahrainis.

The actual disbursement rate of recurring expenses for fiscal year 2018 was 100.4% of the total approved budget, and achieved a growth of 5% compared to its actual level in fiscal year 2017, with recurring expenses accounting for 91.1% of total general expenses and 23.6% of GDP.
