Bahrain Mirror: President of the Bahrain Forum for Human Rights (BFHR), Baqir Darwish, announced in a press conference held by three human rights organizations on Thursday (February 13, 2020) in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, entitled "Evaluation of violations in Bahrain during 2019" that: "In the first 6 months of 2019, 349 people, including 20 children and 3 women, were arbitrarily arrested."

He noted that "84 citizens, including 6 children, were subjected to forced disappearance; 477 people, including 25 children and 5 women, were arrested to be referred to the judicial authorities for political reasons." 

Darwish stressed that security forces raided homes and residential areas in an unlawful terrorizing manner. He said that they raided areas across the country 2,125 times, and houses and private facilities 386 times. 

He highlighted that "police forces restricted freedom of movement through placing 330 checkpoints, at which citizens have been harassed," adding that "police forces also confiscated the properties of citizens 15 times and destroyed property 8 times."

As for the media, Darwish indicated that "5,442 media articles and messages that incite or help incite hatred against human rights defenders, political activists, Bahraini citizens, political opposition institutions and human rights organizations, were recorded."
