Bahrain Mirror: The Ministry of Health has registered a new case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), confirming a total of two registered cases in the Kingdom so far. The second case was registered after a Bahraini woman arriving at the Bahrain International Airport from Iran via Dubai was examined as part of the precautionary measures taken in light of the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The ministry stressed that all necessary measures are being taken to examine each passenger arriving from affected countries and that they will be transferred immediately for treatment if symptoms of the condition are found or confirmed following laboratory analysis and will be isolated at the Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Health Center in Salmaniya.
The ministry indicated that the infected citizen had arrived in Bahrain after a visit to Iran, accompanied by her husband and her sister in law, stressing that the accompanying relatives were also moved to isolation as a precautionary measure, after testing negative for the virus.
The ministry highlighted that a comprehensive medical protocol has been established to combat COVID-19, which is in line with established international guidelines as set out by the Gulf Health Council (GHC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The ministry added that patients who are suffering from or are suspected of suffering from COVID-19 are being isolated until laboratory tests are complete. If test results are negative, patients are advised to return home, and remain there for a further 14 days.
The ministry calls upon all citizens and residents who are experiencing symptoms of COVID19, including a fever, coughing and difficulty breathing, or those who have travelled to any of the countries infected with the disease or have interacted with a person traveling from any of those locations, or interacted with an infected patient, to isolate themselves, call 444, and follow the instructions given by the medical team, and avoid close contact with others.
