Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society held the Bahraini government responsible for the attack of dozens of foreign workers on two Bahraini security guards.
"Dozens of foreign workers attacked two security guards at a civil company in a humiliating and degrading manner in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Saturday, July 4, 2020," Al-Wefaq said in a statement it issued on Monday, July 6, 2020.
The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society held the government of Bahrain responsible and considered what happened a result of the circumstances and procedures provided by the authorities that led to making the Bahraini citizen a victim of their policies and projects, which lack the most basic values of citizenship and justice.
The society emphasized that holding on to the current political mentality in the management of the country will lead all Bahrainis to a further loss of security at all levels including employment, livelihood, housing, education and economy, in addition to the public security entirely.
Al-Wefaq said that Bahrain needs a new generation that is more patriotic and responsible, not involved in corruption and in the humiliation, insult and contempt of Bahrainis, and more efficient and able to be responsible for protecting the Bahraini citizen, caring for their interests and providing human conditions for them.
It stressed that the accumulation of foreign workers in a tremendous and frightening manner, and the increase of their population to more than 53% of the Bahraini population, without a plan, willingness and sound vision, expresses failure and futility that cannot be accepted.
Al-Wefaq said that all the circumstances surrounding the conditions of foreign employment do not reflect a sound vision, starting with the acquisition of jobs, the lack of Bahrain's readiness to receive these large numbers due to infrastructure and the security and humanitarian situation, the laws and regulations and the inhuman conditions in which the majority of the foreign community lives.
Al-Wefaq emphasized that it supports providing a healthy and safe environment, building appropriate infrastructure, creating human conditions for foreign workers and preserving their dignity and rights. The society further said that it is necessary that these groups are not exploited and that only the groups that Bahrain needs are brought, adding that the interests of the country and citizens and their employment, housing and security conditions should not be exploited.
