Bahrain Mirror: Crowds of Bahrainis staged protests on Saturday against the official normalization of ties between Bahrain and Israel and the exchange of embassies' openings.

Despite the ban on protests and deployment of a number of security forces, massive protests took to the streets in different areas in Bahrain, including Manama, Abu Saiba, Al-Shakhoura, Sanabis, Sadad and Karana.

Citizens staged angry protest in Manama. In Abu Saiba, protestors raised Palestine flags and banners condemning normalization. They also burnt the Israeli flag.

Bahrainis continued to tweet under hashtag "Bahrainis against Normalization" on Twitter, in response to the authorities' announcement on establishing full diplomatic ties with Tel Aviv.

Member of Al-Wefaq secretariat Majeed Milad tweeted "It is an illusion that the Bahraini people enter the tunnel of normalization. The Egyptian people up to the moment have their heads raised against normalization."

He stressed that "Israel is an usurping entity no matter how it tries to make deals under fake titles." Al-Wefaq is the largest opposition group in Bahrain, but was dissolved by the authorities in 2018.

Human rights activist Maryam Al-Khawaja posted a series of tweets in English and Arabic languages: "The people of Bahrain are not free, nor do they have any say in what the regime does or decides, locally or internationally."

"The fight for justice and freedom continues," she stressed.
