Bahrain Mirror: The Secretary-General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) Abdulqadir Al-Shihabi stressed that the key to reform and restructure the labor market relies in recruiting the employed in value-added jobs.
He confirmed that the union is against the repeated training processes and demands that graduates be trained while they are doing their job as it is the case with teachers in the teachers' college. He highlighted that recruiting the unemployed has been on the union's top list last year and will continue to be a priority in 2021.
The Secretary-General pointed out that the unemployment rate in Bahrain is expected to increase to 10.5-11% due to the recession in the kindergarten and nursery sectors, as well as the retail sector, which need to be revived in order to save them from bankruptcy.
