Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecution said the criminal court will urgently look in the case of assault of a prisoner of conscience by a criminal prisoner.
The Southern Governorate's chief prosecutor said the prosecution received a notice from the General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation stating that an inmate tried to attack another inmate (in reference to Sheikh Zuheir Ashour) and left him with minor injuries.
The Public Prosecution started investigating the incident as soon as it received the notice and listened to the suspect's statements.
The victim alleged that the attacker asked him to speak in private, to which he responded positively. "But, the man started yelling at me and hitting me violently, inquiring about a complaint filed by one of the inmates against him." "Police came to my rescue, hearing the commotion, and drove him away," the victim told the investigators.
Reports say the victim suffered minor injuries-aberrations on the rights and left forearm and neck.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed his crime when confronted with security footages. He said that he was incited by a number of inmates to attack the victim. The public prosecution ordered to refer the suspect to the criminal court over charge of attacking the bodily integrity of others and set March 22, 2021 as a date to consider the case.
