Bahain Mirror: The US Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission called on the Bahraini authorities to release political prisoner Abduljalil Al-Singace, who is on hunger strike.
The commission said in a tweet on its official account "Al-Singace is a prisoner of conscience who should be freed immediately and without conditions." The commission's account retweeted a report by Reuters on the deteriorating health condition of Al-Singace who has been on hunger strike since over 3 weeks in protest against ill-treatment in prison.
Al-Singace's family said that he lost 10 kg during the first three weeks of a hunger strike, Reuters reported.
Abduljalil Al-Singace was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2011 alongside a number of other Shi'ite Muslim activists and opposition leaders for their roles in an uprising in the Gulf island state ruled by a U.S.-backed, Sunni Muslim monarchy.
