German Government Demands Bahrain to Respect Human Rights, End Violations

Bahrain Mirror: The German authorities have called on Bahrain to respect its human rights commitments and to end violations against activists and politicians.
The German Foreign Ministry stressed that it does not deviate from its commitments in the area of supporting and protecting human rights and will not hesitate to put pressure on the Bahraini authorities to guarantee rights of peaceful activists and dissidents.
In a letter to members of Parliament, German government officials revealed information about their moves to put pressure on Bahrain.
German Member of Parliament Martina Engelhardt Kopf sent a letter to the German Foreign Ministry regarding the human rights situation in Bahrain.
German officials raised the case of activist Dr. Abduljalil Al-Singace.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin and the German embassy in Manama are closely monitoring the human rights situation in Bahrain, especially the conditions of detention of human rights activists and opponents, as is the case with Abduljalil Al-Singace.
The officials made it clear that human rights issues in general and special cases are addressed during talks with the Bahraini government.
Germany noted that its moves come within the framework of the EU's foreign relations with Bahrain, and that these vital issues are regularly addressed.
The German Foreign Ministry added that it will address the protection of human rights in Bahrain in future bilateral talks, and will demand commitment to human rights obligations.
