Bahrain Mirror: Prominent human rights activist Nabeel Rajab said he ended the alternative punishment program, which lasted for nearly two years, which means he regained his full freedom.

Rajab explained via his Instagram account that his release under the alternative punishment programs two years ago was "a good opportunity for freedom restricted by a travel ban," which enabled him to spend time with his family and children, as he has been deprived of following their upbringing since childhood.

Rajab added that since his release from prison, he has finished writing his first documentary book, which is currently in the printing phase, and is now busy writing his second book which is full of "experiences I see people need to know", as well as another book he is working on with a journalist on a different subject he did not mention. 

Nabeel Rajab was arrested in 2015 and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. He spent 5 years of his jail term before the authorities paroled him on June 9, 2020, as part of what is known as the "Alternative Punishment Program," through which he completed the remainder of his sentence.

Two years ago, the authorities released dozens of political detainees as part of the alternative punishment program, however, activists say these releases were limited.
