Bahrain and Qatar to Resume Diplomatic Relations

Bahrain Mirror: The Qatari-Bahraini Follow-up Committee held its second meeting on Wednesday (April 12, 2023) at the Gulf Cooperation Council headquarters in Saudi Arabia.
It was decided to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961, Bahrain News Agency reported.
The two sides confirmed that this decision stems from the mutual desire to develop bilateral relations and enhance GCC integration and unity in accordance with the objectives of the GCC Statute, and respect for the principles of equality between states, national sovereignty and independence, territorial integrity, and good neighborliness.
The Bahraini delegation was headed by the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and the Qatari delegation was headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General, Ahmed Hassan Al Hammadi.
The meeting discussed topics on the agenda topics, and reviewed the outcome of the first meeting of the Joint Legal Committee and the Joint Security Committee.
