Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Bahraini authorities released on Friday (June 19, 2015), Ibrahim Sharif, the Secretary-General of WAAD (National Democratic Action Society) after serving four years in prison.
The authorities arrested Sharif along with other prominent opposition leaders in March 2011, after raiding the LuaLua Roundabout, and sentenced him to five years in prison for plotting against the regime.
Sharif filed a lawsuit against Bahrain's ministry of interior (in April 2015) demanding his release after serving more than three quarters of his sentence term, according to the domestic law.
The release of Ibrahim Sharif came three days after sentencing the country's opposition leader and Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, Sheikh Ali Salman, to four years in prison.
