Bahrain Mirror: The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society stressed that the former Member of Bahraini Parliament, Sheikh Hassan Isa, has been in custody for more than 48 hours and still no information has been revealed about him, also pointing out that his lawyers were prevented from accompanying him to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) building.
"The ongoing arrest of Sheikh Hassan Isa since Tuesday night (August 18, 2015) and the fact that no information was revealed about him until this moment represents a serious escalation and a move targeting political figures, clerics, political and civil activists," Al-Wefaq added.
Al-Wefaq pointed out that the fate of Sheikh Hassan Isa is still unknown since his arrest. In addition, his defence lawyers were prevented from being present during the investigation, which represents a violation of his rights and raises a lot of question marks concerning the course of this arrest.
Al-Wefaq reiterated its demands, calling for the immediate release of Sheikh Hassan Isa and putting an end to the ongoing campaign targeting political activism, stressing that these acts only aggravate the crisis even more.
