Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini cabinet discussed on Monday (August 31, 2015) imposing regulations "to maintain the sanctity of religious platforms and distance them from provoking political rhetoric that causes divisions among fellow citizens, ignites tension and conflicts and negatively affects the status of religious pulpits and their preaching and guiding roles."

The Bahrain News Agency said that the cabinet assigned "the Ministries of Interior, Justice, and Islamic Affairs and Endowments to submit the necessary recommendations in this regard, in light of presenting the memorandum submitted by the Minister of Interior for this purpose."

The Minister of Interior Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa announced in a conference held last week his intention to oblige Imams of mosques and Friday preachers to get approval, the matter which senior clerics in Bahrain considered an attempt to undermine the independence of religious affairs.
