Bahrain Mirror: Human rights defender and Chairman of the European-Bahraini Organization for Human Rights, Hussein Jawad Pervez, said that the health of his 68-year-old father "Pervez" has suddenly deteriorated while in prison. Jawad explained on his personal Twitter account on Saturday (September 5, 2015) that they had a scheduled visit with his father on the same day, yet the prison's administration called the family to inform them about cancelling the visit, due to the sudden deterioration of Pervez's health.
"This is not the first time my father's health suddenly deteriorates in prison and he gets transferred to the hospital to receive urgent treatment, without receiving specialized treatment for his condition," Jawad said. Pervez, who is considered one of the most prominent political prisoners, is sentenced to 15 years in prison over what is known as the "figures" case, due to his leading role in the February 14 protests.
"My father was urgently taken to the hospital today after a long time of not being examined by a specialized doctor," Jawad added.
"We have received no information about my father since the morning he was transferred to the hospital. His family and the opposition figures are concerned about him. We haven't received any phone calls informing us about any updates," Jawad further stated.
Jawad went on to say that "in every visit we made with him, the effects of his illness were clearly shown on him, although he tried hard to hide them, but he still suffers from vertigo."
Jawad held King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Royal Court and the Interior Minister accountable for his father's health deterioration. "We deem them responsible for his health," he said.
