Nabeel Rajab: Taking Down Ashura Flags Violates Religious Freedom of Indigenous Bahrainis

Bahrain Mirror: President of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR), Nabeel Rajab, tweeted on Thursday (October 15, 2015): "Taking down religious banners and flags linked to the culture and beliefs of the indigenous Bahrainis is a violation of their religious and cultural rights," posting pictures of security forces taking down Ashura banners in a number of Bahrain villages.

The Bahraini authorities have launched a nationwide campaign a few days ago aimed at taking down and removing all Ashura-related slogans, flags and banners in Shiite villages, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (pbuh).
