Foreign Ministry: Foreign Participation Expenses Increased by 400,000 BD & Rent Expenses by 735,000 BD

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the increase in salaries of local employees in the Kingdom embassies reached about 1.4 million BD, which is about a 30% rise during the period between 2010 and 2014. The expenses of diplomats' accommodation outside Bahrain also increased by about a million BD during the same period.
Responding to the questions of the State Audit and Administrative Control Bureau regarding the increase of recurring expenses, the ministry said that expenses of appointing new ambassadors outside the circle of ministry of foreign affairs employees has reached 523 thousand DB and that the rental of missions' headquarters and administrative buildings jumped 735,000 BD. The ministry estimated the annual expenses for the opening of the Bahrain mission in Najaf by about 320,000 BD. Also, due to the turbulent and rapid events taking place in the region, there was an increase in terms of participation in foreign conferences and events and holding local conferences between 2010 and 2014. The increase of expenses reached 400,000 BD. Bahrain's share in the regional and international organizations increased by 90,000 BD. In addition, the rise in the expenses for celebrations of national day outside Bahrain increased by 23%, i.e. approximately 100,000 BD.
