Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini government decided on Monday (November 9, 2015) to freeze bonuses given to heads and members of governmental boards and commissions, governmental companies and those who own 50% of stakes as part of the government's plan to reduce general expenses.
It said that the freeze "for two budget cycles, includes the current one."
Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa asked the ministerial committee for financial affairs and rationalization of spending to draw up the necessary executive procedures. He stressed that the measures should also include the bonuses paid by some governmental parties and companies.
Bahrain faces financial difficulties with the drop of oil prices. However, a governmental report showed millions of wasted Bahraini Dinars due to government corruption. The opposition is demanding the resignation of the government and the start of a comprehensive reconciliation process.
