Bahrain Mirror: The President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Abdulaziz Abul said that publishing photos of suspects is legal, if allowed by the Public Prosecution, according to the Bahraini Penal Code.
Abul further stated in an interview with the Al-Bilad newspaper that the NIHR seeks to amend the Penal Code by communicating with the Shura Council, Parliament and Public Prosecutor to prevent publishing photos of the suspects unless a final verdict is issued against them.
Abul thanked the Minister of Interior Rashib bin Abdullah Al Khalifa who assigned a "communication officer" between the ministry and the NIHR, noting that communication with the Interior Ministry is still ongoing and that any issue taking place in Jaw prison is solved over the phone.
Abul added that the institution is working on finalizing its third annual human rights report, highlighting that it will be issued on Human Rights Day on December 2016.
