Bahrain Mirror: The High Criminal Court (Appeals court), presided over by Judge Bader al Abdullah, with the membership of judges Wajih al-Shaer and Omar al-Saidi, and Iman Dismal in the Secretariat position, upheld today Wednesday (October 19, 2016) a first instance ruling to imprison Taiba Ismail for a whole year over a tweet, charging her with "insulting the king".

The First Instance Court had ruled in August 31, 2016 the imprisonment of Tayba Ismail for a whole year, after tweeting "insults" addressed to the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The case started when the Directorate General of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security received a message claiming that someone on "Twitter" insulted the king, and published tweets that would destabilize peace and security in Bahrain, according to allegations by the authorities.
