Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Naba weekly newspaper said official figures issued last week suggest a record high augmentation in consumer prices (inflation) in the Kingdom of Bahrain during January 2017. The inflation increase was by 0.8% in comparison with the same month of last year.
The Information & eGovernment Authority date said the consumer prices' new record reached 127 points last months in comparison with 126 points of January 2015.
According to the authority's figures, the housing and utilities prices, which make up 24% of the consumer spending, increased by 3%, while transportation prices increased by 15%.
On the other hand, food and non-alcoholic beverages, which amount to 16% of the consumers spending, saw a price fall back by 2.3%.
Moreover, the monthly consumer prices augmented by 0.3% in comparison with last December, the authority number further suggested.
The inflation rate (the number measuring the cost of consumers' accessing services and commodities) reflect the price movement, and monitors the price hike rates in different markets.
