Court Orders Prosecution to Investigate Reasons behind not Bringing Detainees to Trial Session

Bahrain Mirror: The Sixth High Court of Appeals  presided over by judge Ibrahim Al-Zayed and membership of judges Dia'a Huraidi and Salah Rizk and Yousif Bu Hardan as secretariat ordered the prosecution to investigate the reasons behind not bringing a number of appellants in a case of political background. The court set May 22, 2017 as date to bring the appellants who were not brought this time.

The supreme court of appeals had upheld a decision stripping 11 appellants of their nationalities and sentencing them to 10-15 years in prison after convicting them of "establishing a terrorist group".

The first-instance court had issued its sentence in a case that include 16 suspects accused of establishing terrorist group, manufacturing bombs and training to use them against the police. Meanwhile, the court acquitted 3 other suspects of the charges brought against them.

The court sentenced on (November 23, 2015) 3 defendants to 15 years in prison and 10 others to 10 years and revoked the citizenships of the 13 defendants.
