Bahrain Mirror - Exclusive: History and International Relations Professor at the Lebanese University, Jamal Wakim, said that "there is an American effort and pressure to normalize relations between Arabs and Israel," believing that part inventing an enemy called "Iran" and the Shiism subject, come to justify and cover these normalization processes.
In an interview with "Bahrain Mirror" over "FIFA Congress" convened in Bahrain today Thursday in presence of an Israeli delegation, Wakim confirmed that "the issue of normalization is not only bound to sports, but it exceeded that." He further said that "Gulf countries have started a decade ago this normalization, and its rate is increasing. He also referred to news about Gulf and Israeli official meeting throughout those years.
Wakim believed that the matter will not stop here, as this normalization will reach maximum levels. On this level, he noted news that reported the Israeli air force participating in the bombing on Yemen with the Saudi air force.
On this Level, the Lebanese professor who is active in the field of boycotting normalization with Israel, considered that the Israeli delegation's visit as part of the "FIFA Congress" to Bahrain comes "in the framework of normalization in order to eradicate the Palestinian cause, withdraw all support, so it would become a humanitarian issue."
Moreover, he added that this issue "goes beyond Bahrain, as the purpose is to bring Israel into the region, in an attempt to change the geopolitics of the Fertile Crescent, which represents an existential threat to Israel."
Concerning the political uprising in Bahrain, Jamal Wakim said, "The situation in Bahrain is primarily in the hand of Saudi Arabia."
"The Bahraini issue is basically for the entire people, and not for a particular group, as they suffer from discrimination since Al Khalifa believe the country to be a wealth just for the family," he stated, further adding, "Therefore, they created the sectarian dimension, in order to justify repression and spread division among the people."
"The problem with the Bahraini national movement is that it will not succeed if it is not part of an Arab nationalist movement framework. It needs to be part of the Arab peoples' demands, or to be embraced by the Arab people within the framework of a political movement," Wakim went on to say.
Furthermore, he asserted that "the official Arab system as a whole is responsible for the crisis in Bahrain, just as it is responsible for crises in Syria, Iraq, Libya and others."
Wakim hailed the peaceful national movement in Bahrain, indicated that "with peaceful struggle results can be achieved, yet it should be part of a wider confrontation project, and part of an Arab national liberation movement."
Manama opened its doors for the Israeli violation Thursday (May 11, 2017) to attend the "FIFA Congress" to be held in Bahrain, after Malaysia refused to host the event for the presence of the Israeli delegation.
