Bahrain’s Premier Restructures High Human Rights Coordination Committee

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Prime Minister, Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, issued Edict 31/2017 restructuring the High Human Rights Coordination Committee.
The Premier's Edict stipulated the restructuring of the Committee presided over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and comprising the following membership:
1- Assistant Foreign Minister, as Vice President.
2- Representative from the Foreign Ministry.
3- Representative from the Interior Ministry.
4- Representative from the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
5- Representative from the Education Ministry.
6- Representative from the Labour and Social Development Ministry.
7- Representative from the Health Ministry.
8- Representative from the Information Affairs Ministry.
9- Representative from the Public Prosecution.
10- Representative from the Supreme Council of Women.
11- Representative from the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission.
12- Representative from the National Communication Centre.
13- Representative from the National Security Agency.
14- Representative from the Ombudsman Office.
15- Representative from the Special Investigation Unit.
The names of members will be issued by the Committee's president - i.e. the Minister of Foreign Affairs - upon their nomination from the respective departments. Members should be in the rank of assistant undersecretary or its equivalent. The duration of membership will be three years renewable for similar period(s). If a member's seat becomes vacant, he/she will be duly replaced by a representative of the same department to complete the tenure of his/her predecessor.
The Edict also stipulated the committee's headquarters, jurisdictions, plans, policies, subcommittees, meetings, decisions, quorums, reporting, follow up of compliance with recommendations, seeking expertise and dealing with official bodies in the kingdom as well as all relevant national and international institutions, agencies and organizations,
This Edict supersedes the previous Edict 14/2014 regarding the restructuring of the Committee.
The Minister has been tasked to implement this Edict effective from the date of its issuance, which will also be published in the Official Gazette.
