Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini authorities continued to impose a house arrest on Sunday (March 18, 2018) on the spiritual leader of the country's Shiite majority, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, for the 300th consecutive day.
Pictures occasionally posted by activists on social media show that the armored vehicles and cars belonging to the Ministry of the Interior continue to surround the house of Ayatollah Qassim, who has undergone two operations during the past three months, and returned shortly after his last surgical operation to his heavily sieged residence.
The town of Diraz, home to Ayatollah Qassim, has been besieged since June 2016. The authorities say that the siege was a result of the sit-in held at outside Sheikh Qasim's house. The security authorities cleared the sit-in by force in May 2017 but did not end the siege, which still continues to be imposed to date.
