Bahrain Mirror: The minor criminal court in Bahrain decided on Monday (February 11, 2019) to adjourn the former Wa'ad Society Secretary-General Ibrahim Sharif's trial over charges of insulting a foreign head of state until February 19 for pleading.

The Public Prosecutor's Office summoned Sharif for interrogation on December 30, 2019, over his tweets about the Sudanese uprising and Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir, charging him with insulting a foreign head of state.

"[...] 30 years ago, Omar Al-Bashir came on top of a tank claiming ‘to rescue'. During his reign, civil wars intensified, the secession of the south took place and the the kind and dignified Sudanese people were made poor and hungry," tweeted Sharif, one of the most prominent opposition leaders, on December 25, 2018.

"It is time for freedom for the Sudanese people and the departure of the tyrannical president," he added.

Sharif attended today's hearing and denied the charges against him, stressing what he said does not go beyond the limits of expressing one's opinion on the events that occured in Sudan. The court decided to postpone the hearing until next Tuesday to allow Shareef's defense team to enter his plea.
